Fun Insert Line Chart

To overlay line chart on the bar chart in Excel please do as follows.

Insert line chart. To create a line chart execute the following steps. Select the range with two unique sets of data then click Insert Insert Column or Bar Chart clustered column. In the spreadsheet that appears replace the default data with your own information.

Now you have your Trendline in your chart and you can predict where the trajectory is going in the succeeding periods. Now select the chart and open the Chnage Chart Type options from Design Tab. In some empty cells set up the data for the vertical line like shown below.

I want to have a line chart that shows the sales in different months on the timeline and mark the maximum value by adding a vertical line. Below are the steps you need to follow to create a chart with a horizontal line. Select the Insert tab in the toolbar at the top of the screen.

Click anywhere in the chart. In this example we have selected the range A1D7. Or you can also use Alt F1 to insert a chart.

Start with your chart data and add a column of values for the horizontal line. After that change chart type to secondary axis and chart type to Column Chart. The data is stored in an Excel Table so that our chart can be dynamic.
